A Little About Me

Hey, hi, and hello!! My name is Ryliee, the face behind RecordsofRy. I have been crafting and creating this image since 2021, and it’s finally come to fruition April 2024! I’m sincerely, unbelievably excited for what’s to come.

Who’s Ryliee??

I am an Arkansas’s born and raised artist. Art has been the one thing I’ve held constant all throughout my life. My mother was a crafty, DIYer, and we could imagine just about anything and make it come to life. My grandmother adored painting and drawing and was actually the first person to teach me how to draw. She’d point out these little details and show me how to translate them to the page. During college, whilst getting an Assoicate of Science at NWACC, and enrolled to continue on my education at the University of Arkansas, I used art as a sort of therapy. It was always a breath of fresh air to paint compared to the miles of schoolwork I had to break through. After my third year, I ended up deciding that college wasn’t truly the place for me, and the degree I chose wasn’t something I wanted to truly pursue in. I started taking my art more seriously, and finally began to branch out and share it to my family and friends (it was always something I used more for myself than to create for other people).

I’m still currently working a full-time job atop of running RecordsofRy, but I dream of being able to transfer fully to an art career. I’m still residing in Arkansas, where hence it’s name ‘The Natural State’, it’s has absolutely stunning outdoor spots. I love hiking new trails and swimming. I often pull a lot of inspiration from the world around me, and it helps when the area you’re residing in compliments that. My other hobbies would include reading, playing video games, and traveling whenever and wherever I can (The beach is by far my favorite).

  • My boyfriend and I! He's my biggest supporter in quite literally anything and everything I do. He's always the first to tell everyone he knows about something I've been working on, he's always supplying me with random paints and canvases, and always pushing me to pursue something I'm truly passionate about.

  • This is from my brother's wedding. My Mom and her husband to the left, my brother and sister and law, myself, and my Grandparents. This whole little group of people have pushed and pushed me on my art journey. From being my supporters, to teaching me new creative processes, I've never been blessed to be born of a family of little creatives (even if they don't work in a job correlated to it).

  • A COVID Graduation.... I graduated with my Associate's of Science, and a High School Diploma, whilst my brother and his wife graduated with their Bachelors!

  • My Mom and her husband! She is the DIYer as mentioned earlier, and the brains behind all of our past operations. These two are always first in line to buy my newest releases, and always encouraging me to keep doing art.

About the Biz

What about RecordsofRy?

RecordsofRy is my ideas all crafted together to finally produce a platform of my work. I created the name to represent not only my art but included “Records” as way to showcase my art as journey. It was also meant to serve as multipurpose. I wanted to have the freedom to swap mediums, from acrylic paints to clay mediums to even jewelry and other things I want to get into in the future. I didn’t want boundaries that I would have to stay in, and instead I wanted the freedom to grow and change as my art does.

Behind the scenes I’ve been crafting and researching all of my products to provide the very best quality I can do so. From researching paints and canvases to the best quality of prints I can achieve all whilst still offering affordable works of art on my page. I’m still conjuring up new ideas to bring more affordable art into my market, and I plan to update my shop every few months with new types of products. What’s your art style and your muse?

I like to classify my art as surrealism. I like the idea of things looking semi-realistic but with a flare of my own personal style. To personify objects to add a flare of personality is one of my favorite things to do. I pull a lot of my inspiration from the world around me, whether it’s something I see while I’m out and about, a song lyric, or even the books I read. Anything and everything can be a source of inspiration when you look at it with a creative mind.

My main objects that are featured in my paintings are suns and moons. I’ve always been drawn to them and would often try and watch the sunset or go stargazing at night. I absolutely adore the story about how the moon loved the sun, but they were fated to be apart. Even through that, they were able to find a way every 20 years to be together again (an eclipse!). With that I have a lot of celestial themes in my works. Other times, I just collage items together, sometimes with a theme in mind, and sometimes I let my hands do the work to create a random but beautiful piece of work.

Art to me is an expression of words your mind can’t speak. It’s all in the eye of the beholder, and one person’s depiction of your work might be drastically different from the next. I love the idea of providing comfort for the disturbed and disturbing the comforted. I love to hear the emotions or stories my paintings tell others, and I love when I’m able to create something where people resonate with it especially if it’s similar with the emotions I was feeling while creating it. Everything about art just speaks a message that I’m not able to convey with just words, even if the image isn’t directly translated from my head, and the ideas are a little slurred, the creations of work are always speak a message. Even viewing art from other creators, it’s amazing to see what words these paintings and artists are conveying without directly saying anything.

This has been a dream of mine for a really long time, and now that it’s finally starting to take roots and grow (even if we’re just a tiny seedling right now), I’m unbelievable excited that I’ve gotten this far.
